Toyota and Mercedes lead the way after opening day of the Game Over Australian Endurance Championship

Queensland Raceway hosted the opening two sessions of the new Game Over Australian Endurance Championship where the honours were split between Toyota and Mercedes entries.

It was a fast opening day kicked off by the Tony Quinn/Matt McCutcheon Game Over Toyota GR Supra setting a 1m 15.357s to be fastest in the first session, 1.488s clear of the Steve Jukes/Karl Begg BMW M4 F82.

Making it three makes in the top positions, the Mark Griffith/Tom Hayman Mercedes GT was next, ahead of the Ginetta G56 GT4 to be shared by Kyle Young and Anthony Levitt.

The Property Investment Store McLaren 570s of Anthony Soole and Grant Denyer completed the top five.

AR Nineteen’s next two Mercedes GTs were up next headed by the Jamie Arratoon/Luke King entry ahead of John Nikolovski/Fabian Coulthard's similar example.

The Paul Buccini/Karlie Buccini BMW 340i proved its underrated performance to be eighth, with Ben Gersekowski’s KCK Lubricants BMW M3 E92 and the Jim Manteufel/Garry Beggs HSV Clubsport R8 closed out the top 10.

A stopped car failed to interrupt the session after the Eric Ebert/Luke van Herwaarde BMW 240iX pulled off onto the joining road following a problem.

Mercedes led the way in the second practice session courtesy of the Griffith/Hayman entry.

A time of 1m 15.673s was enough to be fastest, 0.081s clear of the Quinn/McCutcheon Toyota GR Supra.

Two AR Nineteen Mercedes were up next led this time by Nikolovski/Coulthard from Arratoon/King.

Young/Levitt were up next in the Ginetta, followed by the Jukes/Begg BMW and the Soole/Denyer McLaren.

After problems in the first session, the Speedcafe.com BMW M4 F82 of Robert Gooley and Oscar Targett placed eighth ahead of the Ebert/van Herwaarde M240iX, while Gersekowski rounded out the top 10.

Qualifying for the Game Over Australian Endurance Championship is due to begin at 10:50 am AEST, and the Btuned Ipswich 3 Hour commences at 5:25 pm into the night.
