Fight in the Night presented by Btuned enters new era with exciting field

There’s a lot of new teams and drivers joining the Game Over Australian Endurance Championship for the annual Fight in the Night presented by Btuned.

Headlining Round 4 of the AASA Race Series, the Fight in the Night presented by Btuned is a marquee event on the calendar and carries with it a lot of history.

After an exciting event in Sydney, the Game Over Australian Endurance Championship returns to Queensland Raceway where the new format was debuted.

AR Nineteen’s Mark Griffith and Tom Hayman currently lead the outright standings after two rounds by just a solitary point from teammates John Nikolovski and Fabian Coulthard. The third AR Nineteen Mercedes-AMG GT of Jamie Arratoon and Luke King sits fourth as all will be outright contenders for victory in the Fight in the Night presented by Btuned.

Making a return to the field for Round 3 is circuit owner Tony Quinn and rapid New Zealander Matt McCutcheon in the Game Over Toyota GR Supra, which won the opening event.

It was a great start to Jake Camilleri and Glenn Walker’s Game Over Australian Endurance Championship campaign in Sydney as the duo recovered from an early spin to score victory. It will be the first Fight in the Night presented by Btuned Camilleri will drive his Mercedes-AMG GT after being a regular in a Mazda 3 MPS.

A welcome return to form for Steve Jukes and Karl Begg led to third place in Sydney sharing their BMW F82 M4, with this an entry to watch, while the Property Investment Store McLaren 570s GT4 shared by Anthony Soole and Grant Denyer is also a contender.

The Ginetta G56 V8 has been a surprise packet this season in the hands of Anthony Levitt and he will be joined by young driver Angus Baills for the Fight in the Night presented by Btuned.

Baills contested rounds last year in a Toyota 86, but will make the step up to the top class Ginetta for the first time.

An interesting entry making its debut is the Team Apex Autowerks Porsche 996 Cup Car to be shared by Cees Valstar, Michael Keeley and Chris Rice. The Porsche enters the round as an unknown quantity.

Chris Pappas will also make his return to the category driving 

Class 2 provides an interesting mix of makes and models headlined by the return of a dominant combination.

Lindsay Kearns and Brad Carr are back in the CMA Car Mods Australia Ford Mustang GT after a heartbreaking series loss last year.

Main rivals will come from BMW, with the Eric Ebert/Luke Vanna ATR Motorsport BMW M2 leading the charge after just falling short of outright victory in Sydney.

The Speedcafe BMW M4 F82 of Rob Gooley and Maika Ter Horst will also be a contender in this class alongside the new entry of Vast Motorsport in the F80 M3 shared by Amar Sharma and Aaron Zerefos.

Jim Manteufel and Gary Beggs will represent Australian muscle in the Man Homes HSV Clubsport R8.

Another returnee is Richard Shinkfield in the Axis Surveys BMW E92 M3 to be shared by Andrew Milford.

Completing the field is an eclectic mix of smaller capacity models including Audi RS, Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, Volkswagen Scirocco R, Golf GTI, Toyota 86 and Hyundai Excel.

The schedule for the Fight in the Night presented by Btuned features three practice sessions on Friday ahead of Qualifying and the main event on Saturday beginning at 6:05pm AEST.

All the action will featured on the AASA Race Series livestream on YouTube and the website.
